BEAUTY | PURISKIN AND AVANTE PREMIER LOUNGE AT LONDON FASHION WEEK

Sooo as a social butterfly and self proclaimed busy bee, I go to alot of events, see alot of new product launches and get to try a lot of nifty things. During fashion week, not only did I see the lovely new collections on the catwalk, but I got to go to press show rooms. One of the show rooms I went to on my last day of LFW was the avante premier showroom. I was treated to brands such as Rixo, Black Betty, Helen Van Rees, Ambersouk to name a few. But the brand that really got me interested was natural skin care brand Acuregen.

NATURAL BEAUTY AND SKINCARE AVANTE PREMIEREAVANTE PREMIERE

Acuregen is the brain child of Amanda Shayle. Acuregen, is a cosmetic acupuncture brand. However, the brand has branched out to creating the new derme range which has been developed to cure skincare conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. The products are totally, natural and great for all skin types, even those of you with sensitive skin. I was gifted with the facial cleanse, face cream, body lotion and resurfacing cream. Now, these products smelt divine and very calming. This is due to the cucumber and chamomile ingredients. I will write a follow up review about my final thoughts, but initial impressions have been good.

ACUREGEN DERME

Now you guys all know, I love me some lipstick. So I was glad to see that, I had my own personal red lippie made in front of me during fashion week. The Puriskin lip treat comes in either a pencil or lipstick bullet, and being the lipstick fiend I am, I went for the barrel. Now, what's great about this is that it is ethically made and totally natural. The lipstick included grapeseed oil and organic jojoba oil for smoothing and softening benefits. I chose the shade, and how bold it was and also added a natural vanilla flavour for taste! At only £12.99 it is a steal for a truly bespoke product, plus only 50p extra for every colour and flavour. Looks great don't you think?

PURISKIN RED LIPSTICK

Finally, I love to keep moisturized and I like smelling good at the same time. So I was gifted with the lavender version, which smells so divine. I don't usually use the word divine, but it is the best to describe this oil! Overall give the brand a go, as I am really impressed.

FASHION | #GEORGETAKETEN

Guess who's back, back again, Jess is back, tell a friend. Ladies and gentleman (if you are out there). I have been teasing you with the newest and latest collaboration from my old friends George at ASDA. I  worked with the brand for the ways to wear challenge back in the summer and this time, I was paired with my old blogger friend Sammy from Oh My Style blog, to pick  the same dress and style it in our own way.

BLACK SMOCK DRESS

So we both opted for this black eyelet smock dress! Which both flattered both our shapes well. Sammy has a more of an athletic shape and I have more of an hourglass shape, and usually not all types of dresses will fit both of our shapes, but luckily this one did and boy was I happy with the cross cross detailing, length and general awesomeness of this dress.

Now me and Sammy both opted to style this dress with a fur lined coat, Sammy opted for a grey version. Whereas, I as lover of red, went for this Burgundy fur number which has now been deemed the pimp coat. Yes, in the words of Beyonce, I was feeling myself, feeling, feeling myself in this coat! Literally, it is my fave coat to date.

Now as I was feeling glam, I paired the outfit with my statement earrings from Topshop. Which add the perfect finish to the look.

Now I seem to have a slight obsession with boots, particularly ankle boots. However since it is cold and I want a change, I thought these tan long boots complimented the outfit to perfect. With a very comfy heel these shoes are very easy to walk in. I have to warn you though, that even though these are comfy, they don't have a platform, so if you plan on wearing these type of boots, please wear gel insoles for comfort. Thank me later. As it is cold, and yes I am not happy with this, I opted for sparkly thick tights to add interest to the outfit.

All in All, I had fun in this challenge! Thaks George at ASDA and thanks Mr Squirrel for making an appearance in the shoot.

LIFESTYLE | WHAT IS YOUR WHY?

I sometimes feel that this transitional weather only affects my wardrobe, but instead it has affected my mood and outlook on, well life really. I like to label this weather, snuggle weather, I don't like to go out that much, as me and the cold aren't the best of friends. Instead, I cherish quite evenings in, with my snugly jumper, woolly socks and hot chocolate whilst I watch crap TV. Basically, what I am trying to say is that this is a time for reflection for me. It is a time where I really look back at this year, and asses my successes and learning's. I don't like to believe in the idea of failure, because with everything that you do, whether it has a bad or good outcome, you learn from it.

I have written so much this year about being unhappy, taking risks and also most recently about feeling lost. At first glance, it would seem that these posts were negative, that I was deeply unhappy. However, I am not. The point of these posts was to challenge why I was feeling vulnerable in aspects of my life and to challenge it, so I could develop my mind and soul. If you know me, opening up and being vulnerable is extremely hard for me, especially on such a public platform. However, I have always been one to do the thing that scares me the most, in order to conquer it. One of my biggest fears is to be vulnerable, and by opening up with these posts, doing things that scared me like go-ape, and putting myself in new and unfamiliar situations, I am less afraid to be vulnerable.

This year has been a struggle for me. There are things that I haven't told the people who are close to me; about what I have had to do to have a purpose, to feel significant, hell to be happy. There have been times where I wanted to give up, and crawl into a ball and throw my hands up and just say fuck it. However, my internal belief system that was instilled in me by my family, to never say you can't, has always been the light in my darkest times. I have an will always push for what I think is my purpose, what makes me come alive and what makes me feel significant.

So after all of this, I was conveniently asked a few weeks ago about what my why or purpose was. To be honest with you, I didn't have to think to hard, I let my heart speak and my why is to make a difference by being creative and empowering people. One way I have done this through my network FBL Bloggers, however if I dig a bit deeper, I have done this by being open on this blog and just trying to be a good person to people around me. When I spoke my truth, I felt free and I felt complete. This has been difficult to express for most of my life. I finally feel that I have a purpose! I finally feel that I am invincible because I believe in my abilities and my drive to make a difference! Nothing, absolutely nothing will stand in my way.

Your why doesn't have to be extraordinary, however your why needs to be your truth. So speak it without hesitation, without fear and be free. I finally am....

#CARNIVALFIESTA WITH THOMAS COOK AIRLINES

Ladies and gentleman, if you know me well you know I love a good party. Nothing sets my heart a blaze than some good tunes, food and peeps. Luckily, last month I got all of that when I was invited to the #carnvalfiesta event with Thomas Cook  Airlines. The event was held  in one of my favourite haunts Barrio East in Shoreditch. I could go into why I love this place so much or the "adventures" I have had there; but let's leave that to another time shall we ;). The purpose of the event was to showcase all things carnival, in the lovely Tenerife, and also let us know about the wonderful country and it's colourful culture.

Let me tell you, I definitely got to know Tenerife VERY well during the evening. That's because we were treated to an abundance of activities through out the night. When we entered the venue, we were greeted with cocktails and  our ears were tantalized with the electric samba tunes of carnival. We  were treated to the performance by Leny and Romero, who were absolutely sick! Whilst we were amazed by their fancy footwork, I was pulled up to dance with Romero! A challenge I so happily took on, where I showed the Samba king, the moves of an Afrobeat queen.

After such an amazing introduction, we were separated into 5 sections, which included carnival makeover, samba dancing, head piece making, cocktail masterclass and speaking to the  team about Thomas Cook airlines. What I really liked about the event, was the ability to mingle with my blogger peeps. In addition, I got to learn new skills! I learnt to Samba, which was my favourite activity! Trust me, I am out on Saturday, and I want to wow everyone with my new moves. Like I want the crowd to be like Julia Styles in Save the last Dace wowed! Also cocktail making was another one of my favourites, let me tell you that me and the bar man were really great friends after that activity! Let's just say I am an overachiever and made banging cocktails, that would make your tastebuds explode with awesomeness. In all seriousness, I really loved getting to know about the culture of Tenerife in such an innovative and interactive way! .

The #carnival fiesta was one of my favourite events this year, and I really hope that I can go and experience it in February 2016. It's hard to explain why in words only, so I included these nifty pictures to explain my love for  Carnival!

LIFESTYLE | IT'S OK TO FEEL LOST, THE QUARTER LIFE CRISIS

I am not sure what the point of this post is, honestly. At the time you are reading this post, it will be Sunday afternoon. All thanks to my uber amazing organisation skills, that are proving to be quit useful. But in reality, I am writing this post at 3 am on a Monday, because I can't sleep. Not because I stayed up to stupid o'clock, (well partly), but they overwhelming thoughts, that plagued me back in the early part of the year, are coming swimming back. In a nutshell, I feel lost and my impending 25th birthday is not helping; as quite frankly I thought I should have had my shit together by now.

THE QUARTER LIFE CRISIS

Now I know you maybe thinking, Jess your still young. No-one really knows who they are until their 30s right? Well I know that, logically. However, it is so easy to compare yourself. I have never really been the one to compare myself to others, my mantra has always been "do you boo", which simply translates to you do your thing, and I will do mine. However, the power of social media, and the way I am feeling makes it very easy to compare myself. You see your peers with well planned out jobs, with the devoted boyfriend, starting a family or taking life by the horns and back packing for a year. Everyone seems to know what they are doing, where they are going and I feel like I am in limbo. I am plagued by self doubt with the decisions I have made; all in the quest for happiness. If you are completely confused about the decisions I am talking about, I was basically  unhappy a couple of months ago and decided to take a risk, and quit my job. In order to take my blogger network FBL Bloggers to the next stage.

THE QUARTER LIFE CRISIS

Now although things have been tough, I am happier. I have been able to have time and reflect and realize what I want, and what I will be willing to fight for. I have learnt in the space of 7 months, that if you really want something you will go out and get it. I mean I am.. but no one ever tells you how long it takes you to get what you want. Frankly, I am a little frustrated. I am usually a laid back, go with the flow kinda girl. But because I have chosen an uncertain path, I don't have the security of saying that. I guess I want things ticked off, I mean everything is just so in the air. I don't know where I am going really, or if things will go my way. I want to be selfish, and I want it all right now. I want my business to hit the ground running, I want the amazing relationship, I want my little black car, I want to feel settled.

However, is it the right time for all of that? I mean if I was supposed to have all of that right now, right here, with the snap of my fingers, would I truly appreciate it?  I think I am looking at me feeling lost as a negative thing, Maybe me feeling lost, is a signal to stop overwhelming myself and take it easy. I have the rest of my life to worry about these things, but I will not always have the time to be young and enjoy my life. I mean there are more troubling things going around the world. I know logically that everything always seems to work out, I just wish I could truly believe it right now.

FASHION | A BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE WITH SPARKLY TRAINERS FEATURING SUPERDRY AND EPHRAIM YEBOAH

Remember a few posts ago, I talked about the Ethologie show and how I am doing a collaboration with the designer??? Do you have no idea what I am talking about? Then click here, and catch up because it was a good post. Now, I wouldn't be a very good blogger, if I didn't show you my outfit that I wore to the show. I decided to go causal glam for the show, so I said bye bye to the dresses and heels and hello to my sparkly wedged trainers from Superdry( that I wore here) and my new sweater from Ephraim Yeboah.

The thing I find with London Fashion Week, is that you get two types of people. The people who really dress for themselves, and love showcasing their personal style. Then there are the people who dress over the top, just so they can get papped. Everyone is entitled to do what they want, but I have always been in the camp of dressing for myself, and expressing who I am. I think it comes with being in the industry for nearly 5 years, or maybe it comes down to my down to earth personality. But, I don't think you should put out, for people if it's not really you, you know? With all that being said, and with no  intentional shade being thrown, I chose this outfit because it is the essence of me.  I like to think of myself as a bit of a rebel, I always like to push the boundaries. I do things differently, I am always think creatively and my emotions guide 80% of my decisions. So suffice to say, this outfit and most of my outfit choices for this blog and in real life are hardly planned. I have honed my skill over the years to know what looks good together quite quickly.

I had been dying to wear my beautiful struggle sweater that Ephraim sent to me. I love graphic art sweaters and t-shirts, so I wanted to do this outfit justice. It made sense to pair the jumper with my trusty leather skirt that has been a staple on LWIG for the last few years. Then I finished the outfit with my loveable backpack and Superdry glittery sneakers. I can't tell you how good it felt to throw away the heels, and the dresses and chill for my last day at fashion week. I didn't want to go over the top, as day 3 was super long for me, with visiting showrooms  and hanging out with my girl Julia (Juls in the pic) and my girl Anoushka, who is also collaborating with Ethologie.

I guess the whole point of this post, is to emphasize that it is ok to be you. To dress for yourself and don't be afraid to push the boundaries if it feels right. I'd rather live a life with regrets, rather than a life of what ifs.

FASHION | THE GREY SLIT MAXI DRESS AND FULL LASHES FEATURING EBAY AND BROWHAUS

Omg, here I am with another OOTD. I tell you it has been a minute, but I have been dying to show this Grey split maxi dress from Ebay, and also my nifty lash extensions that the lovely guys at Browhaus (Islington branch) did for me.

EBAY GREY SPLIT WRAP MAXI DRESS

I mentioned on Twitter, that I attended Scarlett's Bloggers festival a month ago. It was sick, and I showcased the event on my snapchat, and did a Saturday #fblchat during the event. As well as the lovely food and peeps. I got to mingle with brads galore. I actually missed Browhaus at the event, but as a thank you for attending, I received a discount from Browhaus, the Islington branch. Since, I have alot of time on my hands, I decided to go and have them done, so I could feel somewhat glamorous. I mean, who doesn't want to feel glam every now and again?

LASHES IN BLOOM: LASHES EXTENTIONS BY BROWHAUSLASHES IN BLOOM: LASHES EXTENTIONS BY BROWHAUS

The service I went for was the lashes in bloom: strand by strand extensions. Which is usually £58. Now you maybe thinking woah! But good lash extensions are usually around the £40-£50 mark; and I have had too many horror stories, to cheap out on the service. A swollen eye, reaction to the glue or lashes that fall out after a few minutes isn't worth it! The whole service was so calming, I almost fell asleep. It started with the beautician laying me down and explaining in full, the procedure. We discussed the length and the overall look I was going for. Since I have pretty long lashes, I just wanted to enhance what I had, to look more natural. She worked away for about 30-40 mins and I let her do her thing. When she was done, I loved the results! I was given a complementary infill a week later to replace the lashes that had grown out. But I deffo felt glam, and looked it too! Aftercare was also discussed, so I just have to be careful with removing my eye make up, and use a water based make-up remover.

EBAY GREY SPLIT WRAP MAXI DRESS EBAY GREY SPLIT WRAP MAXI DRESS

As I have been dying to show off my lashes, I have also been dying to show of my grey wrap maxi dress that I got from Ebay. Literally, Ebay has been saving me y'all. I have always had a soft spot for splits and wrap shirt dresses, so this dress encompassed both my loves in one place. The colour and style make it a perfect outfit to be styled in different ways. I chose to (albeit begrudgingly) embrace Autumn/Winter and pair this dress with my trusty select fashion oxblood, floppy hat and pair it with my oxblood new look lace up boots.

NEW LOOK BURGUNDY PATENT LACE UP BOOTS

I am glad that I was able to wear these boots, cause last time I wore them, they gave me a bit of trouble. In hindsight, I should've gone a size down, but they seemed comfy this time. They were a mission to walk around the whole day with a few months back. But I couldn't give them away! Great decision to keep them, right?

LONDON FASHION WEEK SS16 | ETHOLOGIE BY JASPER GARVIDA AND BLOGGER COLLABORATION

A few of you may or may not know, that I attended London Fashion Week this year.It has been a while since I made an appearance to the bi-annual event, that sets the fashion world ablaze. I don't like to brag about going, but I make it a point to really understand the upcoming trends and inspirations for the season ahead. That being said, I eagerly like to discover designers that tickle my creative senses and get my fashion mind excited. I'll be writing about my overall experience in a separate post, but for now I wanted to share with you my favourite show. On day 3 of London Fashion Week, I attended the Ethologie show, which is the brain child of designer extraordinaire Jasper Garvida. Hosted in Essie Carpets a Persian rug store, in the heart of Mayfair. We were transported to a Moroccan dream world, filled with colour, embellishment and a sense of Moroccan heritage, that was modernized for the 21st century woman.

As soon as the lights dimmed, the  crowd grew quite and the sounds of the  melodic tunes burst onto the catwalk; I was instantly in awe at this breathtaking collection. The inspiration for the collection followed the story of a young woman on her way to her native Morocco, where she discovers the land and heritage  of her ancestors. It was difficult to pick my favourite piece, as you could tell the workmanship, detailing and individuality that each piece had really intrigued me. What I also loved, is that Garvida included black models in his show. Something that has been lacking in the catwalks, especially during fashion week. It helped showed the diversity of the collection, and showed that every woman, no matter what they looked like, can look beautiful.

Now I am excited to share this all with you, but I will be working with Ethologie, as one of the exclusive bloggers who is having a dress from the show designed for me. I have already had my fitting and sat with Jasper to choose and design my dress. I am also going to be receiving a bag from Brix + Bailey, the brand that provided the accessories for the show. I am truly blessed and cannot wait to see the final dress and style it up for you guys.
