Afternoon all, hope you are good. So a while back I went to the B Public Relations SS13 press day in The Swarvoski Crystal room  on Regent Street in Central London. First of all the location was so pretty and sparkly.. sometimes I really wonder if I am 22, as I still get mesmerized by anything Sparkly. Anywho.. the point is the press day was in a gawjus location. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by the Press team who were so friendly and offered to give me a tour of the different fashion and beauty brands the look after. There was a lot of gorgeous collections my favourites being the hardware produce by Fope and Goldsmiths. The beautiful shoe collections by Call it Spring and the lovely neon blouses from Missguided. Also I must not forget the fur gilet by Lipstick Boutique.

I was in awe of everything! I was surprised at the amount of brands that B PR looked after.. let me tell you it was a lot. After I finished fawning over the pretty clothes I had a look at the beauty collections. To my delight there was an abundance of nail polish by Ciate... it was good to have a look at the upcoming nail polish trends that will be coming out the SS13.
I was lucky enough to have my nails done, I didn't know what to choose but I settled for Twilight

All in all it was a great event, but I couldn't stay for long as I had to dash off back to uni for a lecture, #1 dedicated student lets hope I get my 1st in my degree.

Products used:
Lipstick-Natural Collection in Biscuit

Hat~Sister's from New Look
Earrings~Topshop(I think)

I don't know if it is me trying to avoid my dissertation, or my growing interest in all things beauty, but I have been loving playing with make up recently! It's strange I used to be more into fashion, but since I have been playing with make up and buying quite a lot of new pieces, I am starting to equally love make up. I kinda feel like a scientist, trying all the new combinations and seeing what comes out of it, and then documenting my findings on the blog for all you lovely people. Anyone else feel like that?

So as you know it snowed quite heavily in the UK yesterday, and we got our fair share of snow in good 'ol London Town.. and yes I did play in the snow and make snow angels.. it was fun. Anywho, my point is that during the winter time, make up is expected to be dark and vampy. Ain't nothing wrong with that, I love a good vampy look, but I don't tend to follow the rules and I longed for something brighter and fun. So I decided to create a summer look instead, with a winter backdrop!

I'm really proud of this look,I used N07 foundation for my base which gives me a sleek medium to full coverage. Thank you to my friend Nats who introduced this foundation to me, I really like it. I had trouble with foundations, especially after I was using the Revlon Colourstay, which did nothing for my complexion and dried me out.

I used three colours fro my all time favourite brand Sleek, sunset palette. I then used my new favourite mascara from Mally! guys try it out it seriously make your eyes pop! It's my new fave  mascara.

Finished off with my lips, which I used Natural Collection lipstick in "Biscuit". You can pick up this brand in boots,it was only about £1 or £2  and for a cheaper brand I was surprised by the pigmentation and staying power of it. However it was a little bright.. so I musted the colour and added shine with NYX lipglass in Natural.

So do you break the rules, when it comes to Winter make-up?

Shellac Manicure- c/o Groupon and Senshi
Ring-House of Fraser (£2)

Hey all, How are you? This is just a quick post to tell you about my experience with Groupon. So a month a go I was contacted by the Groupon guys to try out their services, I was chuffed as I had always heard about Groupon but never had the time to try it out and see what the hype was about.

For all of you who don't know, Groupon is a website which showcases holiday deals, food deal, fashion and beauty deals and much much more. I signed up via Facebook and with a play around with the settings, I realised that the site allowed me to tailor deals to the London area, which was helpful.

I was given a voucher to review a deal. It took me a while to do this as you have to be quick and at the time there wasn't anything that spoke out to me at that time. After receiving emails and looking at the site. I was happy to find a deal that was really sick, a shellac manicure and Pedicure for £29 at Senshi ecoluxe beauty in Richmond. The deal also allowed me to have a facial for £39,so I used my own money to splurge out.

I am no stranger to Shellac nails as I had it done during London Fashion Week. Good thing about them is that they are a mixture between gel and nail polish and are apparently better than gel, as they allow the nail to breathe. Also they last about 2 weeks, longer if you treat them well. I was also happy to have it on my feet, becuase they needed some much needed TLC, and I had never had a facial before.

Senshi was a little bit hard to find but I called up the team and they were really great at directing me to the salon. As soon as I got in I was treated really well, I really got a sense of tranquillity, relaxation and professionalism at the salon, my feet and nails were done and then I was taken to another room to do my facial. This was my favourite part as It felt really cool and soothing that I nearly fell asleep.

Overall, I was happy with the results. The staff were nice and my nails lasted ages and my face felt gorgeous. I only wished the full works were done n my feet like scraping the dead skin, and soaking them like a normal pedicure. But, apparently shellac nails need to be on dry nails.

I highly recommend you guys to try Groupon as it was really good that I got this deal. The facial would've been about £35 by itself.  For me, I am hooked and have already bought a jewellery course in March. I might be on track to achieving one of my New Year goals.

How about you? Will you try Groupon?

Hi all, this is a quite a different topic from my usual fashion and beauty post but I  decided that it needed attention. Back in December I got the opportunity to visit the Harley Dental Studio for an Oral Cancer Screening, with Dr Mark Hughes. Now the word Cancer is a touchy subject, but with Movember and Brest Cancer Awareness, I thought it was best to highlight Oral Cancer as it doesn't get much attention even though it  causes more deaths per number of cases than breast cancer, cervical cancer or melanomas.I know scary huh?

The low down on Oral Cancer
So you maybe thinking, well I'm young I don't really have to worry about this, but as with any   cancer it doesn't discriminate against age. Oral cancer is on the rise(over 6000 case are diagnosed each year) and mainly being caused by lifestyle habits such as smoking, excessive drinking, chewing tobacco and oral sex as it allows people with HPV to transmit the disease. If you have a lump, ulcer, red or white patch can be an early sign if it lasts 3 or more weeks and  you need to get it checked out. As Oral Cancer patients suffer  facial deformity, loss of teeth and damage to the tongue and throat, and so will have  difficulty in talking and eating in public.

How is it treated
The team and Dr Mark were so kind and helpful when I arrived and made me feel at ease. The disease and treatment were explained to me, and I felt I had a good understanding of the procedure. To start off, Dr Mark did a  physical examination of my mouth and neck to check if I had any lumps, red or white patches in my mouth. Then he did a more thorough examination with the VELscope Vx(device above) to see if I had any mouth abnormalities. The VELscope is used to detect abnormalities not seen with the naked eye. It doesn't hurt because it is non-invasive. The device shines a blue light into the mouth which causes the soft tissues to naturally fluoresce. Healthy tissues fluoresce in distinctive patterns and these are visibly disrupted by trauma or disease, making it possible to differentiate between normal and abnormal tissue. The treatment took 30 minuets and I was given the all clear, it wasn't scary at all.

Final Thoughts
Overall this was an eye opening experience for me, although I do not  do any of the lifestyle habits to cause oral cancer, and was given the all clear, I still feel compelled to talk about it. I learnt about a disease that is affecting many people around the world and the UK, which can be minimized due to lifestyle changes and early detection. If you or anyone you know has the symptoms please contact the Harley Street Dental Studio.

HAPPY 2013 | The London Eye and #HPMemory2012 book‏

Happy 2013! sorry I've been a bit late with the new year greetings but I have been super busy and all with uni. I spent the eve of 2013 on the London Eye with my mum, I got the tickets as one of my presents, when I finished my year placement with Samsung back in August! I am so glad we chose to go on this day as it was a perfect way to wrap up the year. Also it was great to see my mum enjoy herself on the eye, as she had never been on it
So since it's a new year and all, I guess it is important to make resolutions. Now like 99% of us know no-one really sticks to resolutions,so instead I decided to make 2013 goals as I believe they would be easier to achieve!
  • Have a sick final year at Uni and graduate with a 1st
  • Pass my driving test, 3rd time lucky
  • Do more D.I.Y's
  • Plan my travelling adventures
  • Go on holiday
  • Continue to save every week
  • Take better care of myself
  • Finish re-decorating my room
  • Explore London's hidden treasures
  • Start a jewelllery course and start selling jewellery
  • Apply for fashion and beauty/pr/buying/ marketing jobs

Making these goals let's me reflect back on 2012, and realise it was such a good year for me personally and professionally. I learnt loads about myself and got presented with a lot of opportunities!! Some of them included  starting F.B.L facebook blogger group; going to the olympics ;starting my last year at uni and spending my 22nd with my favourite people! Also going to alot of blogger events. However, the icing on the cake was when I went to London Fashion Week event with New Look see here.

This was in collaboration with Handpicked Media, it was such an exciting experience which I enjoyed so much. I even wrote about it in the  #HPMemory2012 book. This book  book showcased the  memories of Handpicked Media members in  2012.I loved being a part of this project, it was lovely to see how great 2012 was for so many people. If you want to check out this book please find more info here all profits go to the Charity When you wish upon a star.
Let's hope 2013 is as great as 2012 :)
