LIFESTYLE | IT'S OK TO KNOW YOUR WORTH
Monday 29 February 2016
One thing I have been really been thinking about is my self worth. So I ask you, do you ever feel that you sell yourself short? Do you allow people to take advantage of you, let opportunities slip by, because you don't think you are worthy or just don't feel that great about yourself? Now it's ok to feel down in the dumps about yourself. I say this, because this is a signal to realize what is making you feel that way, and what you can do to really understand your worth and feel better about yourself. Now, why am I writing this post? Well if you know me, you know that I am a confident self assured girl, who knows what she wants and takes what she wants. That being said, I am not immune to my days where I just don't know my self worth.
Being honest and everything, I have not known my worth, especially with being an entrepreneur. I have allowed people and opportunities to go by; all because I didn't think I was good enough. You see the problem there, I didn't think I was good enough. What was my thought process behind this? Simply comparison, the thought that someone was better than me. In addition, I have felt that sometimes, I let people take advantage of me. Now, I am not a walk over, I'll tell you where to go when you disrespect me. But, I have the curse of being too "nice", you know what I mean?
Now coming to my personal life there were times where there were people who weren't good for me, and I'm sure you've all been there.
People who suck the joy out of you, aren't really down for you. But you keep them around out of habit and because you don't want to be "difficult". What this leads to is alot of unecessary pain and aggro.
This feeling has been plaguing me for a while. It was difficult to sum up into words how I was feeling, until I came across this extract from J.Anderson. Quite simply this extract emphasises the power of self worth. It makes me feel that I matter, I'm wanted and I deserve to be treated with respect in every aspect of my life. This goes to you too! When you recognise your worth people will too, and thus act accordingly.
I think I'm doing OK with the whole self worth thing. I stand for what I want and work hard to get it. I mean there are times when we can ask be meek and mild, and there isn't anything necessarily wrong with that. .I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be afraid to stand up for what you believe in. It's a process, but one with a generous reward, your respect.
